Jonah Jackson is a Houston, Texas native now working in Los Angeles. He received his BA in studio art from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
He discovered art during a painting course titled “painting for non-art majors”.
His paintings and installations critique American history and its’ exclusion of Black people. With narratives, identity, portraiture and language, he responds to the Black experience within his community. Through assemblage, he’s expanded the boundaries of painting creating sculptural work and bringing complexities to these objects.
